My partner, myself, and my sister decided to go to Canada's Wonderland for their Halloween Haunt this year, and it was a really fun experience. I expected it to be a lot scarier but I suppose my early exposure to horror, and the fact that ultimately it's targeted towards a younger audience allow for it to be less of a scary experience and more of a "Wow, the work that's gone into the sets, and SFX makeup is really impressive." When the actors got up real close, I couldn't help admiring the work that's gone into creating their character.

Artists, eh?

I'm also somewhat of a sadist in that nothing gives me more joy on Halloween than to see people absolutely terrified. I think it's because I've already been desensitized so I find amusement in scaring people. (I also dislike candy, so really, where else am I going to find enjoyment!)

We went through most of the mazes you can see in the photo above. My favourite one was the spirit manor because it had a clear story, and the set was very beautifully done. It also had some very clever UV paint implementation. Overall, it was fun and I definitely would go again. I just wish some of the kids would realize that being afraid is totally fine, and you don't have to "act tough" to be impressive to your friends. Being spooked is totally cool.

  1. This is so great though. I love the effort the whole park put into this! I wish I could go to something interesting like that. Europe is a boring place to be for Halloween.

You must really enjoy if I'll be the one you'll scare because I am really coward haha I don't watch horror films at all, unless I'm with someone and it should be by day and not night hahaha

    1. Haha it was super funny seeing people scared, really. It's because I started on the horror scene pretty early, and I used to be super scared. Now I guess I've just realized that people are the real horror, and it's beyond the horror movie kind.

  3. If my boyfriend and I were here, oh boy, he would love this to death. He would really enjoy this kind of stuff. I experienced riding a Halloween train when I was a kid and I was never even scared but my little cousin cried because the monster was in front of her. Hahaha! :D
