Once again, I am beginning my new year with an I-Am-An-Academic mindset at the Canadian University Software Engineering Conference (CUSEC, for short) in Montreal, Canada. My thesis group had presented our project (some photos, you can find here) and won "Most Unique Project". I had also worked with a good friend to make a live Twitter visualization for the conference. Keeping in line with last year's post, this post will be written in bullets.
  • I met Aaron Paterson and he gave us stickers and buttons of his cat.
  • I think I've found my calling in a desire for a UI/UX design career.
  • There still exists a culture of really awkward Computer Engineering kids.
  • The Ace card in the King's game does not mean you have to down your drink.
  • When you throw up Kraken Rum and poutine, you throw up dark liquid and rice.
  • Learning to include people is a valuable, and very sweet skill that really does make a difference.
  • Being nice is a choice.
  • Impostor Syndrome is a thing.
  • You cannot put university students in a train car and expect them to not have a mini-party.
  • Someone unscrewed all the light bulbs on the 9th floor.
  • All of a sudden, the reality of becoming an adult, and "young professional" is all up in my face.
  • Vulnerability is a strengthening bond in a relationship.

    1. Impostor Syndrome is basically when you think you're not as good as you actually are.
Ace is for Avalanche = you start drinking and people follow.
It's a famous smoked meat place, Schwatrz, in Montreal and their pickles are AMAZING.
      Thanks, bb! :D :D :D
